The Importance of First Impressions

Knowing how to greet, introduce, and welcome people properly is a fundamental skill—yet often underestimated. We've all experienced awkward moments caused by poor or missing introductions.

And yet, first impressions lay the foundation for effective communication and lasting professional relationships.
Who hasn’t been to an event where someone felt excluded simply because they weren’t introduced? Or found themselves asking, “Are you a friend of the bride or the groom?” just to navigate the social setting?
The golden rule: any event—whether social, corporate, or institutional—requires careful attention to greetings and introductions. Improvisation rarely works.
Know the protocol: in formal contexts, hierarchy, titles, tone of voice, posture, eye-contact, handshakes—and in some countries, even bows or hand-kissing—play a key role.
Be culturally aware: what’s acceptable in Italy or in Europe might be inappropriate abroad… and vice versa.
At EAS, we strongly believe, that no successful social, professional, or international life is possible without mastering the rules of first contact.
That’s why our courses—practical, interactive, and rich with real-life case studies—are designed to teach the essentials of welcoming, greeting, and introducing with cultural sensitivity and confidence.
