There are professional experiences that leave a deep mark, and today I would like to share one as a concrete example of the value that training in Etiquette and soft skills can bring to companies.

In November 2011, just four months after my move to England, I had the opportunity and pleasure to conduct an intensive weekend course in Milan, dedicated to the company Forge Monchieri from Brescia.
Forge Monchieri is one of Italy’s most renowned companies in the free forging sector, with over half a century of activity and continuous expansion. The Monchieri family has always stood out for strong and innovative entrepreneurship, supported by highly qualified collaborators, which has allowed the company to grow significantly in a few years, achieving excellent results both nationally and internationally. Through technological and process innovations, Forge Monchieri has established itself as a benchmark in the steel forging sector (www.monchieri.it).
At that time, the company was undergoing an important generational transition: from the founder, Cavalier Gianfranco Monchieri, now Honorary President, to his daughter Gaia Monchieri, current Chairperson of the Board and CEO. From the beginning, I sensed a clear and modern vision, which was fully confirmed at the end of our training weekend.
A Special Weekend
The organization was impeccable: hotel, schedules, meals, and extra activities in Milan were curated in the smallest detail. That weekend had almost the atmosphere of an incentive trip rather than a traditional course.
A few days before, I was also asked to provide an evaluation of the dining services and support in purchasing books from Hoepli Editore, so that the participants could receive my newly published book as a gift.
During the two days of training, we shared lunches, laughter, and moments of genuine participation, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and enthusiasm.
Why It Was Such a Positive Experience
The reasons are multiple and all significant:
The company understood the importance of generational change in management, translating it into a modernization process at operational, commercial, and relational levels;
It relied on extremely loyal staff, who needed guidance toward a new corporate culture;
It recognised the value of soft skills and Etiquette as essential elements for professional growth.
Forge Monchieri did not merely organise a simple course, but offered its collaborators a valuable, complete, and high-quality training experience, with particular attention to individual motivation.
An Example of a Modern Vision
Reflecting on that experience, I believe that Forge Monchieri managed to excellently combine training, personal growth, and team spirit, with a forward-looking vision perfectly aligned with modern times.
It is not a common opportunity: that meeting left me with a feeling of sincere gratitude and great respect for a company that knew how to look ahead with intelligence and sensitivity.
As stated on the opening of Forge Monchieri’s website:"
Details make quality, and quality is no detail."
Heartfelt thanks to the Forge Monchieri team!
